The Everest Base Camp Trek via Jiri offers an alternative route to reach Everest Base Camp by road, avoiding the Kathmandu to Lukla flight. It is also known as the “Classic Everest Base Camp Trek” and is ideal for those with sufficient time to explore the Lower Khumbu Region. Tenzing Norgay and Edmund Hillary used this route during their 1953 expedition.
Either Trekking to Everest Base Camp from Jiri, or by Lukla flight, it is rewarded with the stunning Himalayan vistas and Sherpa villages. Unlike the regular Everest Base Camp Trek, the journey from Jiri to EBC takes around 18-22 Days. Mountain Eco Trails has crafted a 20-Day Everest Base Camp Trek Itinerary package that suits all kinds of travellers, from beginners to seasoned trekkers. Moreover, those who want to avoid the traffic of the EBC Trek route can use this as a less crowded Everest Trek. Only a few travellers choose this Jiri Route.
