Bhakapur Durbar Square

Bhaktapur is the cultural capital of Nepal, also known as the city of devotees. It represents the medieval era of Nepal and is often referred to as ‘living history’. The city features four distinct squares: Durbar Square, Pottery Square, Dattatraya Square, and Taumadhi Square. Bhaktapur Durbar Square, a royal ancient palace listed in UNESCO World Heritage Sites is famous for its ancient temples, palaces, and traditional Newari architecture. It showcases numerous Hindu temples, statues, a wooden carving 55 windows palace, a magnificent Golden Gate, and the revered Taleju Temple. Taumadhi Square is home to the Nyatapola Temple, the tallest temple in the valley, dedicated to Siddhi Laxmi. Pottery Square is where artisans create clay pots and other pottery items. Dattatraya Square houses a trinity of Hindu gods in a temple.

Festival celebrated in Bhaktapur Durbar Square: The city celebrates Newari festivals almost every month, with the Bisket Jatra during the Nepali New Year. It is also known for its popularity of Newari delicacies including the King of Yoghurt ‘Juju Dhau’.

Patan, the oldest city in Kathmandu Valley, is known as the paradise of fine arts. It is known for its rich cultural heritage, cottage industries, and skilled craftsmanship, particularly in metal and stone. It is also one of the oldest Buddhist cities in the World. The city is designed in the shape of the Dharma-Chakra (Wheel of Righteousness), which represents the Buddhist principle. Within Patan, Patan Durbar Square stands as an ancient royal, adorned with multiple temples, statues, and courtyards that showcase the remarkable artistic and architectural achievements of ancient Nepal.

Krishna Mandir, Bhimsen Temple, Hiranya Varna Mahabhihar(Golden Temple), Viswanath Temple, and Royal Bath with intricate stone carvings are some notable attractions of Patan.
