Why is Everest Base Camp Heli Trek different?
The regular Everest Base Camp Trek takes 12-15 days with walking back from base camp to Lukla. However, on this journey, you will fly back to Kathmandu from the Gorakshep instead of walking down. Completing the all-inclusive Everest Base Camp Trek takes less than two weeks. This trek is best for those people who have a very short time to explore Everest. First, trek through the different Sherpa villages, rivers, forests, steep trails, etc. enjoying the towering mountains.
Is Everest Base Camp Heli Trek best for me?
The Everest Base Camp Heli Trek goes up to the altitude of 5500 meters at Kala Patthar. Moreover, you will stay a night at Gorakshep over 5000 meters high. In addition, it demands excellent physical fitness that involves daily walking for 6-7 hours. Hence, if you can pass these challenges, this trek is best for you. Further, if you have previous trekking experience, then this trek would be a real-time experience for you.
Regular Everest Base Camp Trek Vs. Everest Base Camp Heli Trek
To reach the Everest Base Camp, either you can trek or do an Everest Helicopter Tour in a day. Moreover, you can opt to trek up to the base camp and return by Helicopter to Kathmandu. It takes around 12-15 days for Classic Everest Base Camp Trek. Hence, it may not be best for the travelers who have little time to explore the Everest.
Therefore, this Everest Base Camp Heli Trek gives you an option to use your limited time. However, the classic EBC Trek requires more time to complete it. You will retrace the same trail down to Lukla by walking. Whereas, in Heli Trek, you will take a Helicopter charter from Gorakshep and fly back to Lukla or Kathmandu. But the Heli Trek is slightly more expensive than the regular EBC Trek.
