The trekking distance of the whole trek is around 40-45 Km. You will need 4-5 Days to complete this trekking route lasting 4-5 hours per day.

Is Poon Hill Trek too Difficult?

Trekking to Poon Hill is an easy trek that is suitable for all kind of age groups. However, hiking to Poon Hill at 3000 meters is still physically demanding. Although you do not need technical skills, you need to ascent for 2 days. It is perhaps the best short trek in the Annapurna Region of Nepal. From where Poon Hill Trek starts?

The most common starting point of this trek is Nayapul. It takes around an hour to reach Nayapul from Pokhara. Then from Nayapul, the trek begins to Ulleri, Ghorepani, Tadhapani, and lastly Ghandruk. However, you can start the trek from Ghandruk and end it at Nayapul as well. If you start from Ghandruk, you can either drive to Nayapul and trek to Ghandruk or directly drive to Ghandruk.

4 Days Poon Hill Trek Itinerary

Day 01: Drive from Pokhara to Nayapul and Trek to Ulleri (2000m, 5-6 hours, 12km)

Day 02: Trek from Uller to Ghorepani (2780 meters, 4-5 hours, 8 Km)

Day 03: Sunrise view and Trek from Ghorepani to Tadhapani (2630m, 5-6 hours, 11km)

Day 04: Trek from Tadhapani to Ghandruk (2010m, 3-4 hours, 6km) and Drive Back to Pokhara.

Permit cards for the Ghorepani Poon Hill Trekking

Just like other treks in Annapurna Sanctuary, you must get an ACAP and TIMs permit card. Classic Trek Nepal helps you to get these permits without any hassle. To get these permit cards, we need your passport copy and a passport-size photo. The cost of an ACAP permit is $25 and TIMs cost you $15. These permits are only for a single entry into the Annapurna Conservation Area. Once you exit from the area, you must get another to enter again.

Furthermore, you can even get connected with your family or loved ones during this trek. Almost all tea houses have Wi-Fi facilities nowadays.

Meals and Drinking water during the Trek

The meals on the Poon Hill Trek depends on the dishes you like to eat. You can get Nepalese traditional and Western cuisine on the menu. Moreover, the prices are almost 50% higher than in Pokhara and Kathmandu. The ACAP has set a menu for the meals throughout the Annapurna Region. So, you do not have to think about the price of the tea house. They can’t charge you more than that menu. Here are some basic common meals you will find on this trek:

Breakfast: Porridge, Bread, Omelets, Tibetan Bread, Muesli, Tea, coffee, Milk, etc.

Lunch and Dinner: Dal Bhat, Pizza, Spaghetti, Chowmen, Noodles, Soups, Fried Rice, Pasta, Dumplings, etc.

Drinking water is most important while hiking in high altitudes. During the Ghorepani Poon Hill Trekking, you can find many taps on the way. However, a water purification tablet would be helpful if you decide to use tap water. Otherwise, you can buy a bottle of water or filtered water during the whole trek.

When is the best time to visit Poon Hill in 2024?

The best time to visit the poon Hill in 2024 is during the spring and autumn season. These two seasons offer dry and warm temperatures. However, we do not recommend hiking during the monsoon season.
