What to anticipate on this 10-Day Annapurna Base Camp Trek?

Remember, Annapurna Base Camp is also known as the Annapurna Sanctuary Trek. The route is easier than another popular trek in Nepal, the 14-day Everest Base Camp Trek. The journey passes through the traditional villages of the Gurung and Tamang ethnic groups, allowing you to experience local lifestyles and culture.

Additionally, the wilderness of the Annapurna Sanctuary is surreal and breathtaking. The changes in the landscapes above Deurali village are striking. Surround yourself with towering peaks, diverse landscapes, glacial moraines, and two base camps: Annapurna Base Camp and Machhapuchhre Base Camp.

Is This 10-Day ABC Trek Right for You?

The 10-day Annapurna Base Camp Trek is best for travellers who can walk on uneven mountain paths for consecutive days. Moreover, if you are a complete beginner in good shape, want to trek with family, or are even a seasoned trekker, this 10 Day ABC Trek is right for you.

Who This 10 Day Itinerary Is Best For

This Annapurna Base Camp Trek package may suit you if:

  • You have approximately two weeks available for Nepal, including arrival and departure days.

The best time for the Annapurna Base Camp Trek is Spring from March-May and Autumn from September-November. These two seasons are the peak trekking season in Nepal, including Annapurna Base Camp. However, weather is never guaranteed in the Himalayas, and conditions at ABC can differ sharply from Pokhara.

    Spring: March to May

Spring brings longer daylight, improving warmth and rhododendron blooms at lower elevations. March may still have snow or ice above Deurali, while April is usually one of the most popular months.

May becomes warmer and more humid. Afternoon cloud can increase as the monsoon approaches.

    Autumn: September to November

    Safety on the ABC Trek

    Altitude Management

There is no guaranteed method for preventing altitude illness. The practical approach is to ascend responsibly, monitor changes and respond early.

    Your daily routine should include:

    • Walking at a sustainable pace
    • Drinking regularly
    • Eating enough
    • Reporting headache, nausea, unusual fatigue or poor coordination
    • Reviewing symptoms before leaving Deurali
    • Avoiding unnecessary rapid ascent
    • Descending when symptoms worsen, or the guide determines it is necessary

Reaching ABC is optional. Safe descent is not. Apart from Altitude management for the safety, our guide monitors the trail, communicates with local people, arranges the logistics, and makes decisions if conditions are not in our favour to continue the trek.

    • Mountain Eco Trails is Amazing

Mountan Eco Trails (Classic Trek Nepal previously) is amazing. They arranged our complete Annapurna Base Camp Trek. They arranged everything for our transport. I got sick and had to turn back after 3 days. Anil came from Kathmandu to Pokhara to meet me and make sure I was ok. He then arranged an alternative trip for Chitwan National Park. This was an amazing alternative. I wish I could give Classic Trek Nepal a 10-star rating. This is the second time I have used them, and I will continue to use them when I return. Thank you, Mountain Eco Trails for making what could have been a bad situation become magnificent for me.
