Difficulty Factors while Climbing Island Peak via EBC

Having said that, the Island Peak is one of the easiest trekking peaks in Nepal; however, beginners with no climbing experience can find it challenging. There are a few difficulty factors climbers must be aware of during the Island Peak Climb.

  • Challenging final section of the route. The final section of the Island Peak can be risky through the steep and narrow ridge line.
  • High-altitude trek is always a difficult factor. Moreover, altitude sickness can cause a real problem for the climbers. That’s why our itinerary consists of a side trip to Everest Base Camp and Kalapatthar for proper acclimatisation.
  • Using the climbing gear and equipment for the first time can be difficult for beginners. Make sure that if you are a beginner, you get enough knowledge about the climbing gear.
  • Unpredictable weather conditions of the Himalayas. Sometimes, Harsh winds or even the snowfall can be an obstacle during the Island Peak Climb.
  • Mental challenges during tough situations, such as weather changes or sickness-related issues.

How to prepare for the 18-Day Island Peak Climbing with EBC?

Well, for the Island Peak Preparation, it depends on whether you are a novice climber or an experienced one. It doesn’t require special mountaineering training, but climbers must be in excellent physical shape with basic skills. You must be involved in strength and endurance training for at least 3-4 months before the Island Peak Climb. Moreover, if you have enough time, participate in another easy peak climb in Nepal, Mera Peak Climbing, which does not require any climbing skill or experience to prepare for the Island Peak.
